OUR STORY
Humble Beginnings, Lasting Impact
Hello and welcome! We’re glad you found us. Troop 216 is more than a scouting organization — we’re a community of young men and women learning what it means to lead, serve, and grow. Whether you’re a prospective Scout, a curious parent, or someone looking to get involved, we invite you to come see firsthand what makes Troop 216 special.
From weekend campouts to high-adventure treks, every experience we offer is designed with one goal in mind: helping young people discover the leader within themselves.
Our Approach: Scout-Led, Adult-Supported, Adventure-Driven!
At Troop 216, we take Baden-Powell’s model of youth-led Scouting seriously. That means our Scouts don’t just participate in the program — they plan it, lead it, and own it. Experienced youth leaders set the agenda, organize outings, run meetings, and mentor younger members of the troop. Adult leaders are here to guide, advise, and ensure safety — but the initiative belongs to the Scouts.
This approach does more than teach outdoor skills. It builds real-world leadership, problem-solving, communication, and accountability — qualities that follow our Scouts for life. When a young person is trusted with real responsibility and rises to meet it, something remarkable happens. That’s the Troop 216 experience.
Our program is centered on outdoor adventure, but it doesn’t stop there. Community service, merit badge achievement, citizenship, and personal development are all woven into the fabric of what we do throughout the year.
