Troop 216 Committee Meeting Minutes – February 9, 2026

Call to Order: 7:04

Eagle Scout Presentation: No new presentations

Secretary Report: Last meeting minutes were approved.

Activities Report:  High ropes course at Beaver Dam is confirmed. The campout will be March 13-15. We ideally need a minimum of 15 scouts join us. We are planning to invite the Girl Scout troop that meets at First Christian to join us for the Ropes portion of the campout. There was a slight conflict with this camp. Troop 72 is having their crossover the same weekend and we are in need of any scouts not attending Beaver Dam to attend the crossover at the Gun Club.

 We have registered for summer camp at Camp Famous Eagle from Sunday, June 14- Saturday, June 20. You can sign up  for classes and merit badges once your registration is confirmed.

  The scouts are interested in participating in day activities however, we need a willing leader that is able to attend these events with them.  The activities that they are interested in are St. Louis Aquarium, City Museum, and rock climbing.

April 10-12 is Spring Fellowship

April 24-26 is a tentative campout at Gateway World Wide Technology Raceway.

September 12-14 is Fall Fellowship

Treasurer Report: Deposits include proceeds from the Peel fundraiser and Cardinal calendar sales. Debits include lock-in groceries and reservation fees for Beaver Dam, High ropes course, and Marengo cave reservation. Treasurer report was discussed and approved.            

Advancement Chair: April 20th and October 19  Court of Honor is scheduled. Elections for the April Court of Honor will be held March 23 and 30.

 Special mention: any Scout to achieve Eagle in 2026 will receive a special addition memorabilia celebrating the U.S. 250th anniversary.

Council/District Report: Roundtable is the first Tuesday of the month. Discussion this past month was on Den Chiefs.

District dinner is March 22nd on Clay St. in Collinsville. Hawaiian themed.

Camp cards fundraiser starts in March. Selling season is longer this year.

Feb. 7 council held its once a year Council Coordinate Operated Committee meeting to discuss issues within the district. May be some forthcoming changes released throughout this year.

Nick Schubert will have 2 college interns from SIUE working with him on spring recruitment and on various activities throughout the year, such as troops’ Court of Honor and Blue and Gold Banquets.

Quartermaster: the bin for extra blankets is broken and a new tote is needed. The big white cooler is being retired. One stove is leaking propane.

Communications: Mr. Middeke has been working with the webpages. He is working to condense some if the pages of the current web page to make it more user friendly. Suggestions on what to keep on it/add to it are welcome. Will need approval for the use of some of the pictures before we publish. Finally, we are searching for someone interested in the role of managing troop email and Facebook page.

Recruitment Report: Currently 9 new Scouts on the roster. We have 22 adults and 21 active scouts without the  new recruits. Anticipating for there to be 13 new scouts in total.

Fundraising Report: Mr. O’Koniewski is reaching out to the Cardinals organization to obtain field box seats for the Cards vs. Cubs game on July 27 or July 28th. We will get 150 tickets to sell as a troop. Another option would be to split the tickets with another troop in the area and each be committed to sell 75 tickets. A portion of the tickets sold will go to each sellers Scout account. We would also be able to participate in the Color Gaurd before the game on the field.

Camp card sales start March 1. This is a zero risk fundraiser as we can return any cards not sold by August 1.

District offers the sales of coffee if any individual scout is interested in selling it will go into individuals scout account.

Scoutmaster Report: Beaumont campout in the books. 3 adults and 5 Scouts attended and went snow tubing at Hidden Valley during the campout.

Aiden has his meeting for Eagle Board on Feb. 12.

**The position for Scoutmaster will soon be available. Let us know if you are interested.

Charter Representative: Scout Sunday is February 8. However, First Christian is going to switch it to February 15 due to a conflict with Beaumont campout. We would love for any available Scouts to come at 9:15 to help serve the congregation refreshments. This is a great way to give back to the church. The church already has a committee that will set up and clean up. Our responsibility will be to serve and greet the church family.

Senior Patrol Leader Report: would like to organize some more day trips.

July campouts include a bike trip with campout and Johnson Shut-in’s because there is no high adventure camp this year.
