URGENT! Membership rechartering and annual dues – Due by 11/18

Each year the Troop must renew its membership charter with the Council. As
it has been communicated from the Council to all registered scouters the
2020 annual membership renewal (re-charter) fee for scouts is increasing to
$60 and to $36 for registered adults. Each scout is also responsible for
Troop dues which are $10 per quarter. Scouts may pay for the entire year up
front or on a quarterly basis. You may also elect to update your scout’s
Boy’s Life subscription. Additionally, they can also pay 2020 Order of the
Arrow (OA) Lodge dues at this time. Your scout may elect to have the funds
deducted from their scout account (part of pay your own way).

Re-charter fee for adults and scouts along with first quarter dues are due
by Monday, November 18th. Please fill out the lower portion of the
attached form with your choices and turn in with payment at the 11/18
meeting. There is no meeting on Veterans Day the 11th

Scout account balance information is available by replying to this email or
asking Steve Dunning/Tim Valley at the Troop meeting for their current
balance.

If you are a registered adult and have received an email notification that
your Youth Protection Training (YPT) is scheduled to expire, you MUST take
the new YPT, otherwise the online re-chartering system will not allow you
to register as an adult. Go to www.my.scouting.org to complete the online
training. An additional item that must also be completed by each
registered adult this year is the criminal background check authorization
form. This form must be completed and turned in with your payment in order
to re-charter with the troop. If you have not yet completed the form please
see Mr. Kupsky, Mr. Gill, or Mr. Dunning at an upcoming meeting to obtain a
form. You may also print one online at tinyurl.com/y52jcrkw.

If any family has already budgeted for the $33, which was the fee last
year, and would like GSLAC to pay the difference for them this year, then
they can contact Kevin Buhr directly (kevin.buhr@scouting.org 414-425-2961)
and he will arrange for GSLAC to pay the difference.

UPDATED!! November 2-3 camping

camp out will begin Saturday morning, November 2 and end Sunday morning as
usual. Please meet at the church at 8:30 am Saturday with departure by 9

Transition of Leadership for Troop 216 Scoutmaster and Committee Chair

Hello Troop 216 Families and Committee Members,

As you probably know, our current Scoutmaster, Gary, and current Committee
Chair, Annette, plan to step down from their current positions in the troop
at the end of this year. In accordance with BSA guidance, we are forming a
search and selection committee with the objective of filling both key adult
openings with the best possible candidates to continue the proud tradition
of Troop 216 and its reputation as a troop known for its excellence in
providing a high quality, positive experience for all scouts who pass
through this troop.

Our charter organization representative, Mike Veith, along with our Unit
Commissioner, Steve Kupsky, and current Scoutmaster, Gary Gill (who does
plan on continuing as a Troop 216 Assistant Scoutmaster in 2020), is
inviting you to join our search and selection committee to help select the
next Scoutmaster and Committee Chair for the troop. * If you’re interested
in being an active part of this special committee, please contact Steve
Kupsky via email (skupsky@charter.net <skupsky@charter.net>), cell phone
(314-265-8360) or in person by October 30.*

We’re expecting a smooth transition and know the new leaders will have the
full support of the scouts and adults in the troop, as well as our charter
organization (First Christian Church) and the Greater St. Louis Area
Council.

Yours in Scouting,
Mike, Steve and Gary
