8/19 Mountain Biking; 8/23-25 Camp Warren Levis with option to canoe; and Sept/Oct activities preview

Our Scouts have an opportunity to do mountain biking on SIUE trails Monday
August 19 at *6 PM*, at no cost, courtesy of the local business, Bike
Surgeon. They will provide instruction and some bikes but if anyone has
their own mountain bike to bring, that would be helpful in allowing more
Scouts to participate. They recommend bringing a helmet, full water
bottle, and headlamp. We will take a rough headcount of those interested at
our next meeting Monday evening, including adults that are able to provide
supervision.

We have scheduled camping with an option to canoe at Camp Warren Levis
August 23-25. Scouts must have passed a swim test in order to be on the
water in a canoe. At least two adults canoeing need to be current in the
BSA online training of Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat. The permission
form is attached and should be printed out, completed and turned in by your
Scout no later than 7:30 pm August 19.

Scouts have proposed a Family Camp in September (TBD) and plan to attend
the annual Rendezvous and Encampment at Camp Warren Levis October 4-6.

Mr. Gill will be on travel and unable to participate in the August biking
and camping. He thanks those adults volunteering to serve as leaders in his
absence.
