Moving Indoors for Weekly Troop Meetings – Monday 26 OCT

— Happy Sunday Everyone,

We have received new guidance from BSA regarding being able to meet
indoors, especially since the temperature and the full transition to the
fall season has occurred. The church has approved us being able to meet in
the fellowship hall providing we follow all standard COVID protocols. This
includes the wearing of masks, social distancing, using hand sanitizer,
limiting our numbers to under 50, and signing in to accommodate contract
tracing if needed.

We will go back to meeting at 700pm. I’d like to thank everyone for all
their patience and adherence to the rules of social distancing during these
challenging times. it is because of this that Troop 216 has been able to
continue the scouting program while remaining safe during this global
pandemic. I’d like to also thank our charter rep, Mike Veith for his
support working with the church to accommodate all our needs.

If there are any questions, please feel free to call, email, or text me.

Yours in Scouting,

Mike OKoniewski 618-791-3956

Upcoming Events and Silver Lake Permission Form — Due 11/9

Hello, Troop 216. Please mark your calendars with these UPCOMING EVENTS:

– November 13-15 Camping at Highland’s Silver Lake Park
– Please find attached the permission form for fun fall camping at
Silver Lake, *to be turned in no later than 7:30 on Nov 9th*. Later
submission makes it difficult for the Scouts to do their
camp-out planning
and preparation.

– November 14 & 21 Scouting for Food in Edwardsville
– The sizable endeavor of distributing bags to each home requires the
help of many Scouts and adults. Therefore, plans will be made for those
camping at Silver Lake to return to Edwardsville for that
morning’s service
opportunity.

– December 5-6 Overnight Caving at Marengo IN

More details about Scouting for Food and the Caving outing will become
available later.

For questions, please email Diane Gill or Martina Bishopp directly.

Thanks!

Court of Honor – Monday night 5 OCT at the American Legion

Troop 216 Family,

Just a friendly reminder that will be hosting our Fall Court of Honor next
Monday night, 5 OCT at the American Legion in Edwardsville. The COVID
canceled our Spring Court of Honor, so there will be lots of rank
advancements, awards, and merit badges to be recognized. This will be an
outdoor ceremony per COVID guidelines. We ask that you bring a camp chair
for each member of your family that will be attending. The ceremony will
take place under the outdoor pavilion next to the golf cart garage and
begin at 630pm. This event will be held in lieu of our normal Monday night
meeting. If you have any questions, please call or email me. The address
of the American Legion is listed below. Basically, across the street from
Lincoln Middle School.

Monday 31 AUG – PLC Meeting

Good Afternoon Troop 216,

We will have a regular in-person outdoor meeting this coming Monday 24 AUG
at 700pm. However, the following Monday, 31 AUG will be having a PLC
(Patrol Leader Council) meeting at 700pm. This will be an outdoor
in-person event as well. There will be no regular troop meeting that
evening. The SPL, ASPL, all patrol leaders, assistant patrol leaders, and
boys who are in leadership positions such as quartermaster, troop guide,
historian, etc are expected to attend. In addition, any boy who wants to
have a “say” in what activities we plan for the next calendar year are
welcome to attend. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the upcoming
scout calendar for the next 7-8 months to include campouts (where we want
to go), activities for regular troop meetings, day trips or events, merit
badge classes, etc. Hope to see you there.

-Mike O’Koniewski

Troop Meeting Tonight 10 AUG – Cancelled due to Weather

Troop 216,

Due to the approaching storms, troop leadership has decided to cancel
tonight’s meeting. Safety is always our priority and the boys got enough
rain over the weekend on the campout. A reminder that our monthly
committee meeting will take place tomorrow night in fellowship hall at the
church at 700pm. If there are any questions, please email or call me.

Thanks,

Mike OKoniewski

also bring a new form (Parts A and B) on Monday. See attached for a blank

health-related questions before attending a group event. A health form and

Troop 216,

Sorry for the day of email, but I was trying to wait till the last minute
to get the most updated weather forecast. That being said, there’s an 80%
chance of rain tonight during our meeting. We have not been able to secure
a location with a pavillion that could accommodate us during inclement
weather. So, tonight’s troop meeting will be a Zoom only event. Start
time is 700pm. I will re-send the email with the link shortly after
sending this email.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Yours in Scouting,

Mike O’Koniewski
