Would you please forward the following email to the Troop contact list?

——-

Troop 216 is again selling Cardinals Calendars as a fundraiser (funds go to
individual scout accounts, not the Troop). These calendars are beautifully
done and make great Christmas gifts…especially after the Albert Pujols’
and Yadier Molina’s retirements, Albert reaching 700 career home runs, and
the Cardinals playoff appearance!

Tim Valley has brought some calendars from previous years to Troop
meetings, and will do so again for the next couple of meetings. Feel free
to take one of these prior year calendars if you would like to use it in
conjunction with your selling efforts.

If you were not at a meeting, but would still like additional information
or a prior year calendar, Mr. Valley’s contact info is: t_valley@yahoo.com,
or cell phone (314) 378-8140 (text or call)

Here is what you need to know:

1. Calendars sell for $17.00 each.
2. Of the $17.00 sales price…$7.50 goes into your individual scout
account.
3. Checks should be made payable to Troop 216.
4. Orders must be turned in on the order form (attached, and paper
copies available from Mr. Valley at our Monday meetings)
5. Money must be collected with the orders. Orders turned in without
payment will not be processed.
6. Order forms and payment due date: Monday, November 14th. Mr. Valley
will be happy to stop by your house, or meet somewhere, to collect the
order forms and money if you are not able to make it to the meeting on
November 14th.
7. Calendars will be delivered in early December.

Rewards:

– Please see the attached PDF listing all of the great prizes the Scouts
are eligible for at different sales milestones. Allocation of prizes to
scouts selling calendars TBD.

Please contact Mr. Valley via email (T_Valley@yahoo.com) for cell phone
(314) 378-8140 if you have any questions (if a scout is emailing, please cc
a parent or another Troop leader as well).

RESPONSE REQUESTED: Cub Launch Volunteer Opportunity 9/17

Hello, Troop 216.

Your scouts can get service hours by helping out at the Cub Launch at Camp
Warren Levis, this Saturday, September 17th. Several scouts indicated they
were interested during Monday’s meeting. I’d like to get a list of scouts
volunteering, as well as parents who might be able to drive.

The event <scoutingevent.com/312-2022CubLaunch> is from 12:00 to
5:00 pm. I have reached out to my contact for details on when volunteers
need to arrive prior to the start of the event and where to go. The moment
I know something, I will pass this information along.

*Please reply to this email as soon as possible if your son will be
volunteering — and if you can drive*. I’d like to have a finalized roster
by end of day Thursday.

Thanks,

Martina

Troop 216 Upcoming Events

Hi, Troop 216. Attached is a PDF with upcoming events for 2022-2023. You
can print it out and stick it on your fridge!

The next two events are:

– Troop hike tomorrow at SIUE at 10 am. Meet at SIUE parking lot P11 (by
softball & soccer fields).
– Campout at Camp Vandeventer on Friday, August 26th – Sunday, August
28th, with an excursion to Illinois Caverns. This won’t be as intense,
long, wet or muddy as Marengo Caves. Just a nice outing. *See the
attached for information about Vandeventer and Illinois Caverns.*

As of this past Monday, the number of Scouts wanting to go to Vandeventer
is small. So hopefully we get more takers before the permission slips are
due. The permission slip will go out next week and will be due on Monday,
August 22nd.

Any questions, email me at parzivalxf@yahoo.com

ACTION NEEDED – Troop 216 Upcoming Events & Deadlines

Hi, everyone. We have some rapidly approaching events and payment deadlines.

1. Pre-Camp Swim Classification Tests
– If your Scout wishes to attend the Spring Camporee, the
canoeing segment of the relay race and most of the open boating options
require the Scout to be classified as a BSA swimmer. Swim tests expire
after 12 months, so if your Scout tested last spring, he will need to
re-test. (If your Scout tested at Summer Camp last year, it will still be
valid.)
– Registration: Please email me at parzivalxf@yahoo.com *by
Wednesday, April 13th* to register for one of two swim sessions (cost
is $5):
– Sunday, April 24th at 3:30 pm at Principia School, 13201 Clayton
Rd, St. Louis MO (only 5 spots open)
– Sunday, May 1st at 1:00 pm at the Collinsville/Maryville/Troy
YMCA, 1 Town Center Dr., Maryville, IL
2. Spring Camporee (Camp Warren Levis, May 6-8)
– Payment and Permission: *due Monday, May 2nd*. The permission slip
is attached below.
3. Summer Camp (S bar F, Famous Eagle, June 12-18)
– Registration: If your Scout wants to attend summer camp and you
have not already registered them through the Parent Portal
<scoutingevent.com/?OrgKey=BSA312&reservationFromEmail=true&parentPortal>,
please email me at parzivalxf@yahoo.com to get login information for
the Parent Portal.
– Payment: The Early Bird payment is *due Wednesday, April 13th*
through the Parent Portal
<scoutingevent.com/?OrgKey=BSA312&reservationFromEmail=true&parentPortal>
to
save $20 off the camping fee. (You may also break that up into 2 payments
due 4/29 and 5/31, but you won’t get the discount.)
4. ZBASE (June 25-July 2)
– Payment: The final payment of $250 is *due Monday, April 25th*,
payable to Troop 216 by check, cash or Scout Account.

I know it’s a lot of info, but I wanted to avoid a bunch of separate
emails. Any questions, email me at parzivalxf@yahoo.com. (Do not reply to
this email because the troop Inbox is not regularly monitored.)

Thanks,

Martina Bishopp

Good morning, Scouters

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Kyle Lamm the new District
Executive for Cahokia Mounds District! As this week starts it’s my goal to
touch base with you all; to check in and to discuss any needs or wants that
Kevin and I may be able to help with. With that being said, my personal
cell is 1-314-623-3876. Should you need anything please feel free to reach
out to me. I look forward to getting to know your all units and what all
you have going on. Too start the process, below is a little about me and my
scouting past.

I am originally from Wentzville, Missouri and attended college at Missouri
State University majoring in Hospitality & Restaurant Administration. I am
a lifelong Scouter from Tiger to Eagle Scout in Troop 374 (North Star
District). I am also a member of the Order of the Arrow and is Wood Badge
trained. While in college, I served on camp staff with the Ozark Trails
Council and served as a leader for outreach units. I am also a member of
Alpha Phi Omega and Freemasons. My wife Brittney and I have one son,
Jameson, and my down time, I enjoy running and geocaching.

Looking forwards to speaking with you all.

Yours in Scouting,

Kyle Lamm | District Executive of Madison and Bond Counties

Beaver Dam Campout/High Ropes 4/1-3; permission & waiver due by 3/28

We are excited for our upcoming camp out the weekend of April1-3 with
hopefully some beautiful Spring weather! We will camp at Beaver Dam State
Park <www.dnr.illinois.gov/Parks/Pages/BeaverDam.aspx>, about a 45
minute drive, at the Beavers Den site.

On Saturday April 2, 9am to noon, Scouts may participate in the High Ropes
Adventure <www.lakewilliamson.org/eagle-crest/high-ropes/> located
15-20 minutes from the State Park. This is an event that our Troop has
participated in for several years and has found rewarding; however, taking
part in High Ropes is optional. High Ropes requires a signed waiver that
can be found here
<www.christianretreatsnetwork.org/resources/?f=037b0b70-51d7-4851-9407-6065ca09be27>,
on
the above website, or attached below. We will need a minimum of 15
participants at High Ropes with a cap of 20 so please submit your
permission form early. We also need at least four registered adults to
provide supervision and transportation.

Those not camping may meet the Troop at the High Ropes location
<goo.gl/maps/XovnoC76MGEzu1yW6> at 8:45am, found at the Lake
Williamson Christain Retreat at the large white barn.

Please see the attached permission form, due by March 28 but always
accepted sooner, for further details (especially what *not *to wear) and to
indicate camping, High Ropes, or both. Cost is $20 per camper, $30 per
person for High Ropes, or $50 for both.
