Beaver Dam/High Ropes permission and waiver – due by Mon Apr 29

We are excited for our upcoming camp out the weekend of May 10-12. We will
be in Beaver Dam State Park
<www.dnr.illinois.gov/Parks/Pages/BeaverDam.aspx>, about a 45
minute drive, camping at one of their Youth Campsites.

On Saturday morning May 11, Scouts may participate in the High Ropes
Adventure <www.lakewilliamson.org/eagle-crest/high-ropes/> located
15-20 minutes from the State Park. This is an event that our Troop has
participated in for several years and has found rewarding; however, taking
part in High Ropes is optional. High Ropes requires the signed waiver
found at the above linked site or attached below. We will need adequate
supervision and transportation for this off-site event that lasts until
noon.

Those unable to camp may meet the Troop at the High Ropes location by 8:45
am.

Please see the attached permission form, due by 4/29, for further details
and to sign up for camping, high ropes, or both, at a cost of $25 for each
person for each event.

It is necessary we have at least 4 registered and trained adults in
attendance for this camp out. If any questions, please email
diane.gill67@gmail.com or ask at the next two Monday meetings.

Troop 216 website reminders and tips

Be sure to regularly check the Troop’s online calendar
<troop216.org/calendar/> for newly added activities for both the
Troop and Council/District.

There is no Troop meeting on 4/15 due to District 7 Spring Break, however,
there will be a Troop meeting on Monday, April 22nd (District 7 students
return to school on Tuesday this year).

– Click to view the calendar by Month, Week, or Day. If viewing the
calendar on a mobile device, another parent suggested clicking on “Print”
(scroll down to “Categories” section) to see an entire month of activities,
but you will lose the interactive links using this method.
– Interactive links are available for most events (or will be updated
when information available) for permission slips, web pages, and in some
cases a link online registration.
– Events are color coded to easily distinguish between types of
activities
– Once you click on an event, there is an option to save the event to
your own electronic calendar.

Another helpful website feature: If you are having difficulty locating a
prior email, go to Troop News <troop216.org/troop-news/> where you
will find the vast majority of emails with links and attachments posted all
in one place!

Parents & Scouts,

Attached is the permission slip with full details for April 5-7 @
Giant City State
Park camping. Adult participation will be important at upcoming camping
events. Philmont crew members will be using these camping activities to
prep for their July trek and will spend Saturday nights away from the main
camping site, so extra adult support will be needed. Younger scouts will
have an opportunity to learn more about future high adventure activities
and the necessary preparation for those type of activities.

May (Beaver Dam w/High Ropes) and June (Hawn State Park) camping dates are
listed on the Troop’s online calendar. Permissions will be forthcoming at
a later date.
