Need patches sewn onto your BSA uniform?

Carol Klaustermeier in Troy, retired former co-owner (with her husband Ron)
of A&R Paints & Crafts, does BSA patch sewing out of her house now and
would be happy for more Scout business. I had Carol do some patch removals
and additions for my uniform recently, and she told me that most
people don’t know she still does it. I told her I’d spread the word
within my troop. I think herf rates are very reasonable ($1.50 for each
patch sewn on and 75 cents for each patch removed) and she typically can
turn around a ‘job’ in just a few days.

Here is Carol’s contact info and say hello to Ron if he answers the phone
or greets you at their house.

Troop 216 Meat Stick Fundraiser

Hello everyone, as I announced at last Monday’s troop meeting, I’ll have another 180 meat sticks at this Monday’s troop meeting for any scouts that want more. As a troop we have already sold 270 meat sticks and I envision us selling at least 500 before school starts again in the fall.

See below email again for specifics about this fundraiser.

Thanks again,

Fwd: Troop 216 Camp Kickapoo June 25-27. Permission due NEXT MONDAY 6/21

Great news–we have another chance for a June camp out! Camp Kickapoo is
located right on Lake Sara near Effingham IL and offers fishing and trails.
This will be our first time visiting this GSLAC camp but we are excited to
experience it. Mr. Kupsky will be the main adult leader and we will camp
at the Mette campsite.

The coordinates for this camp’s location is 39.149033, -88.648971 or enter
Camp Kickapoo Summit Township IL on Google maps for directions. Drive
should be a bit under 90 minutes.

We have had to cancel several recent events due to limited adult
participation so if you are able to camp with the Troop, please plan to.
We appreciate full-weekend campers but can usually accommodate changes of
arrival and departure date or time if needed, and just request that you
indicate these in writing on the permission form. Also please note on the
form if any medications are needed or if there are any medical (including
allergy) concerns.

You will find the permission slip attached. This should be turned in by
your Scout to Ms.Gill or Bishopp at the *beginning* of next Monday’s meetin
*g*. If a Scout is not present at the meeting but plans to camp, please
send a text to Ms.Gill or Ms. Bishopp.

Menu planning is done at the Monday meeting and grocery shopping typically
on Thursday night the week of a campout. Listen for details of time and
place for shopping at Monday’s closing announcements. Not all
participating Scouts need to help with grocery shopping but it is a
valuable learning experience.

If any questions or concerns, please contact either of the
Activities Chairs. Thank you!

Philmont trekkers, it’s time to start some conditioning workouts to get in
shape for our big trek. And a great place to experience vertical climb is
at Cahokia Mounds! This Sunday we will meet at 1:00 pm to fit packs and do
some climbing. If anyone else is interested in joining us, please do!

Bring your backpack (trekkers try to load about 20-25 pounds into your
pack), water and a snack. Our goal is up and down the steps of Monk’s
Mound five (5) times! As we proceed, we’ll stop and work on pack
adjustments.

We will figure out distance for those working on hiking merit badges.
