Reminder: 2022 Unit Renewal for Scouts, Parents, Adult Leaders for Troop 216

Hello parents!

We are currently working on the Troop 8216 Charter Renewal for 2022. In the
email below, I have listed the prices for the yearly renewal for scouts and
for adults as well as other pertinent information. There is a lot of
information to cover to make the recharter happen successfully.

*Scout Information:*

The dues for each scout to renew for BSA is $72.00

The dues for the Troop annually is $40.00

The cost for the Scout Life magazine (optional) is $12.00

These fees can be paid via check made payable to Troop 216, via
paypal(troop216@), or paid out of the Scout account. Please let myself or
Mr. Valley know how you would like to cover the cost.

We also have financial assistance for Scouts if dues are an issue. We do
not want any scout not to be able to participate due to a financial reason.

*Adult Information*:

The dues for adults are $45.00. This is for adults wishing to continue to
be adult leaders and provide assistance to the troop. These fees can be
paid in the same manner.

If you are a merit badge counselor only, there are no dues required.

All adults will need to make sure their Youth Protection Training (YPT) is
up to date.

We will need to know if you wish to be in your current position with the
troop (committee member, assistant scout master, unit scouter reserve,
merit badge counselor only, etc).

If you are registered with another pack/troop and they are collecting your
dues, please let me know the pack/troop number so that I make that
adjustment.

*The hard deadline for payment of dues, YPT, and troop position is
12/06/21. *

Please let me know if you have any questions. If I am not available, Neil
Joellenbeck (618) 410-2993 will be able to assist.

Thank you,

Tara Kuhne

> Troop 216 is happy to return to our annual overnight lock-in event after missing last year. Although it is a change in location from previous years, Eden Church has a great facility they are allowing us to use that includes a gymnasium and large gathering area. Activities through the evening will include ball games and other fun fitness opportunities but this is also the one Scout event that a portion of the time electronics use is permitted. Scouts will work on their Cyber Chips and are allowed to bring in personal electronics, gaming devices etc WITH parental permission.
>
> Past years have shown little to no sleep or rest is needed by most of the Scouts, but participants can bring in a pillow/blanket or sleeping bag/pad for a comfortable spot on the floor.
>
> Please bring a mask. Pizza, snacks, drinks and donuts will be provided. The cost is $22 per Scout and they may turn in permission forms tonight or at next week’s meeting. There is no cost for adults so join in this event that is fun for all ages.
>
> The Lock-in officially runs 8:30pm to 8:30am but as usual, with prior notice we can accommodate adjustments to the schedule if that would allow someone to attend so please indicate that on the form.

Troop 216 Silver Lake Camp out Nov 12-14/Permission due Nov 8

Hello Scout Families! Our next camp out is scheduled for Nov 12-14 at
beautiful Silver Lake Park in Highland at the Jaycees’ Pavilion. Scouts
will return to Edwardsville for Scouting for Food bag distribution on
Saturday morning and then back to camp for lunch. Watch for more
information on the Nov 13 and 20 Scouting for Food activities in a later
email.

Due to these days of early sunset, we are proposing an optional earlier
departure on Friday the 12th. Those Scouts that can arrive at the church
at 3pm will go set up camp in the daylight while others may meet up at the
traditional time of 5pm at the church. We will need minimum 2-deep
adult coverage for each group, someone to pull the trailer at the
earlier time, and drivers for there and back, including on Saturday
morning, so parents, please consider signing up to camp the weekend or
drive.

The permission form is attached and may be turned in along with payment at
the next two Monday meetings. Turning in no later than the start of the
Monday Nov 8 meeting is very helpful for those planning transportation,
food and activities for the camp out.

If any questions or concerns please contact Scoutmaster Mark Mason
302.256.8597 or Diane Gill 618.616.6774.
